Video: Sock Monkeys Surprise Mom in Hospital

Still Very Swollen, but Making Progress

I (and a few surprise friends) finally made it to Swedish Hospital in Denver where Mom has been since Saturday. Following a trip to the ER, doctors found and removed a blood clot in my Mom’s chest that was located inside a stent. The blockage was causing all the swelling in her arms, neck and face.
She still has a blood clot in her neck, so right now she is on a Heparin drip and taking Coumadin to try to get rid of the dang clot. She still has a lot of swelling, but she is eating and getting some sleep. She will most likely be in the hospital until Sunday.

Sock Monkeys in Flight to Denver

I brought to Denver with me two very special friends – sock monkeys! These cute little guys were given to me for Mother’s Day from my daughters. I decided to bring them to Mom for comfort and strength. Who doesn’t like sock monkeys??? Now, they will be a permanent part of her lung cancer journey.

Here’s video of me surprising her with these two little love bombs and my Mom’s sweet reaction.

Mom decided to name the purple sock monkey “Hope” and the brown one “NED.” In the cancer world, NED stands for “No Evidence of Disease.”

Mom is sleeping right now. She needs it big time.

More updates to come. Thank you ALL so much for your continued well-wishes, thoughts, prayers, calls, emails, etc. They mean the world.
