Our original goal (posted on February 2, 2010) was to increase the number of “WTF” Facebook Cause members from 115 to 200 members by Valentine’s Day. On February 10th, we had already surpassed our goal, with 218 members.

So, I upped the ante and challenged you to get 250 members. As always, “WTF-ers” came through BIG TIME. We now have 260 members!!! Yay! You guys are seriously the best. See what happens when you combine the power of people and social media? CHANGE!

UPDATE: February 10, 2010 - So, you guys totally rock the social media house! Our goal was to get 200 members to join the “WTF” Facebook Cause by Valentine’s Day. CONGRATS! We already have 218 members, with four more days until V-day! Here is the new challenge. Let’s get 250 members by Valentine’s Day. I KNOW you can do it.

Hey “WTF-ers.” Here’s our next social media campaign.

We have a Valentine’s Day wish: We want funding for lung cancer research. Here’s one simple and easy way to spread the word.

If you haven’t already done so, we need every “WTF” member to join the the “WTF” (Where’s the Funding) for Lung Cancer?” Facebook cause. Here is the link:

Here’s what you do:

– If you are NOT a current recruit of the “WTF?” Facebook Cause, you will see “Join Cause” in a green box directly underneath the picture of my mom.
– Click “Join Cause.”
– After you allow Facebook all the permissions for you to become involved with the Cause, you can then start to recruit your friends. Hopefully, your friends will also join the Cause, pass it on and spare a few dollars in the process.

If you ARE already a member of the Cause, you will simply see “Invite Friends” in the green box underneath my mom’s picture. So, you know what to do!

I DOUBLE-CHOCOLATE-DIP DARE YOU!
If you are pretty comfy with Facebook, you can take this campaign a step further. Post your own Valentine’s wish, along with the link to the “WTF” Cause, as your status update several times between now and Valentine’s Day.

For example, here is the Valentine’s Day Wish message I sent out a few days ago, but feel free to tailor your message.

Here is some language you can use for your message:

“Please help fill my (mom, daughter, dad, grandpa, etc.) heart this Valentine’s Day with a donation to support “WTF?” (Where’s the Funding) for Lung Cancer. My (I, mom, daughter, dad, grandpa, etc,) has lung cancer.

Did you know that 60% of all new lung cancer cases are found in people who have NEVER smoked or quit decades ago? Smokers or not, lung cancer is the #1 cancer killer – the LEAST funded. Yep, due to that stigma.

Please help my (mom, daughter, dad, grandpa, etc.) in his/her fight with lung cancer, along with Leslie Lehrman (the inspiration behind the “WTF” campaign you see pictured here), so that they can continue to live, enjoying both the big and little things in life!” Thank you, (name here).

Again, this is a simple way to help educate the facts about lung cancer, chip away at that stigma and safely raise much-needed funds for lung cancer research.

Right now, the “WTF” Cause has 115 members. Let’s get to 200 members by Valentine’s Day!

Remember: Every member matters! Every dollar matters!

Let’s Rock it!

Your “WTF Chick,”
Jen
