Looking to Expand “WTF” Efforts. Are You Game for the “WTF Mob?”

by jenniferwindrum on March 2, 2010

Hey “WTF-ers.” It’s time to organize and expand “WTF’s” lung cancer awareness and fundraising efforts across the country…and beyond.

I recently sent out a poll on our Facebook page seeing what the initial interest level would be in either leading and/or participating in a “WTF Mob” in your city or area. I got a tremendous response!

Basically the “WTF Mob” is a way for us to develop “WTF” grass-roots “chapters” that can help spread the “WTF” word, attract new members, and execute campaigns and other PR/social media/marketing/word-of-mouth efforts.

Details of what all the “WTF Mob” will entail is still in the works, as I didn’t anticipate this kind of growth this quickly. Good for you!!!

Now, I need to be able to track all of your responses, along with your location. So I’ve created another poll.

Are you interested in leading/participating in a "WTF Mob" in your city/area to help expand our efforts?

If you could kindly post how you voted and your location in the comments section below, I can better organize all responses.

(ps…if you voted in the Facebook Page poll, if you could please answer this poll too, it would be greatly appreciated.).

Again, you guys simply ROCK!!! Welcome to the “Mob.” Muuaaahhhh!

I would love to lead a WTF Mob in New York City. I am based in Brooklyn. My mother, a non-smoker, died of lung cancer almost 2.5 years ago, only 3 weeks after her 60th birthday. She fought it for almost 3 years. She was incredible. I have been incensed about the dearth of funding and awareness for lung cancer in this country and found you because I am looking to really get the word out and organize around this issue. Thanks for creating WTF!

  • Hi Katie! Wahooo! I am so excited you want to be part of a “WTF Mob." Thank you so much for your participation, passion and drive!!

While we are in the beginning stages of developing our “Mob” chapters (if-you-will), there is something you can do right away to spread the word and mobilize fellow Lung Cancer advocates.

As you know, “WTF” has partnered with the Bonnie J Adarrio Lung Cancer Foundation. In addition, I am now working directly for BJALCF and we have a 3-5k walk/run coming to Cleveland on Saturday, June 19th.

I know it's not in your back yard, but I certainly wanted to let you k now about it. Might be a fun road-trip!

As part of the “WTF Mob," you can build a team asking friends and family members to join you on race day as your “Mob” descends on Cleveland to raise that much needed funding and awareness for Lung Cancer research.

To register, simply go to http://bjalcfwalkrunohio.kintera.org

For more information and/or help in getting your “Mob” team set-up, please contact Amelia Lewis at amelia@lungcancerfoundation.org or by phone 203-701-9440. She’ll get you all taken care of.

This will be a great way to start recruiting new “WTF Mob” members in your area and get the ball rolling.

I can’t thank you enough for stepping up to the plate and helping to expand “WTF” and BJALCF’s efforts. You totally ROCK and we ARE making a difference! Hugs. Jen
